The 800-1380 servo amplifier module is produced by Copley Controls for the Accelnet CANopen Modules series. Designed for distributed motion systems, the unit receives CANopen commands and modulates motor phase current to drive brushless, brush, or linear servomotors. By combining network control with high-bandwidth current regulation, it serves as an intermediate power stage that links low-level logic to medium-power actuators on automated assembly lines, robotics, and packaging equipment.
It delivers a continuous output of 7 Adc, while transient demands can be met with a peak output of 14 Adc for up to 1 second. The bus input may rise to 90 Vdc, permitting operation with higher-voltage supplies without derating. Internally, the current control loop cycles at 16 kHz, and pulse-width modulation of the output stage is generated at up to 100 kHz; these rates help minimize current ripple and acoustic noise. A minimum load inductance of 200 µH must be present to keep the output filter stable. The brake transistor channel can sink 1.0 Adc to dissipate regenerated energy. The optically isolated outputs are rated for 300 mAdc and can energize external relays or status lamps.
The analog input accepts ±10 Vdc signals through a 5.05 kΩ front end and uses a 12-bit converter to process torque or velocity commands. Incremental encoders can be read at carrier frequencies up to 5 MHz, while the drive’s internal velocity and position loops update at 4 kHz to maintain a low following error. Digital pulse trains are accepted at a maximum rate of 2 MHz, providing an alternative to CANopen for step-and-direction control. The available command and feedback channels support accurate motion across applications that use either networked control or direct pulse commands. For setup and diagnostics, the RS-232 service port reaches 115,200 baud, providing parameter access without occupying the fieldbus. This serial connection allows direct communication with the module while the CANopen network remains available for machine control.
