Installed inside a Rexroth control rack, the board accepts two quadrature phases and a reference pulse from an incremental encoder and forwards them to the host drive controller, enabling real-time position feedback in automated machinery. A dedicated 5 V logic rail powers the unit, so it can share the low-voltage supply already present in most motion-control cabinets without extra conversion hardware.
Field wiring enters the module through a 15-pin male D-Sub connector at interface port X22, and the INK0209 assembly serves as the mating cable for direct installation. The logic electronics draw a maximum of 250 mA from the external rail, while the permitted supply remains fixed at 5 V DC. The processing path handles encoder pulse trains up to 1000 kHz, allowing the card to follow high-speed axis shafts without losing counts. To maintain reliable edge separation at those frequencies, the minimum interval between successive transitions is 250 ns. Input amplitudes must exceed 2.5 V to register a logic-high signal and fall below 0.5 V to register a logic-low signal. These voltage levels match common TTL thresholds and protect downstream comparators from ambiguous input states. Fixed electrical phase angles place Ua1 at 0 degrees and Ua2 at 90 degrees, preserving the quadrature separation required to determine movement direction. The controller can therefore derive the count direction and speed directly from the conditioned outputs without additional signal processing.
