The VSP40.1ALE-512NN-C1D-AE-NN-FW is an operator terminal from Bosch Rexroth Indramat's VSP IndraControl Terminals series. It combines an industrial touch screen with an embedded PC so operators can visualize machine states and issue commands directly on the shop floor. By integrating processing, memory, and field interfaces in a single panel, the unit serves as the human-machine interface for programmable logic controllers and motion systems. It is suited for panel-mounted use in automated equipment where local interaction is required.

The visualization layer is built on a 15 in TFT that renders up to 1024 x 768 pixels in 256,000 colors, providing detailed process graphics without external monitors. A Celeron, 2 GHz CPU manages control tasks, while 512 MB of main memory stores the running operating system and application code. Graphics are buffered in up to 8 MB maximum of video RAM, which is suitable for the XGA panel. Touch input is registered through the resistive screen, eliminating the need for a keyboard or mouse in confined enclosures. The combination of onboard processing and local display support allows application screens and status pages to be handled at the terminal.

Network traffic reaches the controller through a 1 x RJ45, 10/100 Base-T interface, while legacy devices attach through a 9-pin RS-232 serial port and a 25-pin parallel port. The expansion area includes 6 x PCI slots for fieldbus or data-acquisition cards when additional interfaces are required. Two type-A USB ports are available on the rear, and there is no front USB port, which keeps exposed cables away from the machine face. Environmental protection is provided by a sealed aluminum bezel rated IP65. Behind that bezel, the front measures 417 mm in width and 380 mm in height, giving space for the panel and membrane keys. An RJ45 jack, D-Sub connectors, and expansion slots are arranged so wiring can be completed without obstructing the ventilation openings around the processor heat sink. Rear-mounted connections keep service access on the cabinet side rather than the operator side.
