The VPB40.1G5A-1G0NN-M3D-BE-NN-FW is a PC-based control unit produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the VPB IndraControl PC Units series. Installed in a cabinet and linked over the proprietary G5 operator-panel interface, it supplies computing resources for VDP 16, VDP 40, and VDP 60 display stations, allowing HMI screens to be mounted remotely while the electronics stay in a protected environment. In automated cells, it handles visualization, recipe data, and motion sequences, acting as the bridge between field I/O networks and higher-level plant systems.
The unit operates from a DC 24 V supply and distributes process data through an Ethernet socket specified as RJ45, 10/100Base-T. For legacy controllers, it has 3 × RS232, 1 × RS422 ports, and both display and printer links use a 25-pin D-Sub connector, with one connection routed to the screen and the other to the parallel interface. Graphics output for conventional monitors is available on a 15-pin HD-Sub VGA jack. Internal expansion is limited to three card slots, which is sufficient for additional fieldbus or motion cards in compact machines. Mass storage is provided by a hard disk rated at 20 GB, and the drive is mounted on an anti-vibration frame to withstand continuous machine-floor shock. A VDP cable carries video and touch signals back to the chosen display, so only a single harness is required at the front end.
Operator files can also be loaded through two front USB receptacles identified as 2 × Type A, while archived backups use the integrated DVD-ROM/CD-RW optical device. The hard disk uses a 2.5-inch form factor, and the storage envelope is 2.5 in. Overall height is constrained to 150.5 mm, and the enclosure width measures 130.2 mm, allowing the PC to fit into shallow control cabinets next to drives and power supplies without crowding other automation hardware.
