Product Description:
The VPB40.1G5A-1G0NN-M1D-BN-NN-FW industrial computer is supplied by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the VPB IndraControl PC Units series. It acts as a compact PC-based controller that integrates motion sequencing, fieldbus routing, and operator visualization through an attached G5 display interface. The unit resides in a cabinet-mounted chassis, consolidating machine control functions that previously required separate PLC, motion card, and HMI hardware. This arrangement allows control tasks and display communication to be handled within one enclosure instead of across multiple separate modules.
It draws a nominal supply of 24 V DC and converts that feed into a regulated internal rail capable of supplying up to 110 W to the motherboard, I/O mezzanines, and the three available PC-box slots. Overall demand will not exceed 200 W, so the cabinet power source and wiring can be sized accordingly. Processing is handled by a Celeron M processor operating at a minimum of 1.3 GHz, supported by a 2.5-inch drive that offers at least 20 GB of storage for the operating system, recipe files, and diagnostic logs. Two USB ports permit local backups, while three RS-232 links and one RS-422 channel connect scanners, frequency converters, or legacy drives. This mix of interfaces supports both removable storage devices and serial peripherals that still rely on direct point-to-point communication. The G5 interface carries video and touchscreen signals to matched IndraControl panels, and the enclosure provides space for additional option cards without exceeding the power budget.
During startup, the controller can momentarily draw 25 A of inrush current, while normal operation is capped at 6 A. The electronics remain functional between +5 to +45 °C, and non-operating storage is permitted from -20 to +60 °C. Startup demand is therefore much higher than the running current, so the supply must tolerate short current peaks without dropping voltage. Continuous vibration over the 10-150 Hz band and shock loads up to 15 g are tolerated without connector failure. The IP20 housing requires installation inside a closed electrical enclosure to protect the unit from accidental contact and airborne contaminants.
