The VAK40.1E-DE-P-MPNN operator keypad is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as a member of the VAK Industrial Keyboards series. Designed for panel mounting, the unit links operators with programmable controllers through a compact front plate that withstands shop-floor contamination. By supplying an alphanumeric layout alongside dedicated function keys, it allows direct data entry, recipe calls, and acknowledgment commands in automated lines, packaging stations, and assembly cells where a sealed, low-power input device is preferred.

Electrically, the board is powered from a regulated 5 V ±5% logic rail, and its internal electronics draw only 30 mA, so it can be fed directly from standard controller USB or backplane supplies without separate conditioning. Communication to the host is available through PS/2 and USB Type A connectors, letting legacy control cards and modern IPCs use the same hardware. The front membrane, gasket, and rear enclosure combine to achieve an IP65 rating, blocking dust and low-pressure water jets during washdown. Category 2 overvoltage coordination supports connection inside low-energy control circuits, and the housing tolerates temperature changes of 3 K per minute without condensation. Three integrated LEDs report keyboard lock, numeric lock, and scroll status, so operators receive immediate feedback even when the main display is remote.
