Product Description:
The SPM 35-TD inverter module is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and belongs to the SPM Inverter Modules series. It converts shared DC-bus energy in a multi-axis drive system into controlled three-phase power for a spindle or servo motor, allowing precise speed and torque regulation in machining centers, packaging lines, and material-handling cells. By integrating gating logic, current sensing, and protective monitoring, the unit serves as the drive stage between the higher-level controller and the rotating load. This arrangement allows coordinated axes to share bus energy while the module performs local power conversion for the connected motor.
Main operating signals are routed through dedicated connectors to simplify installation. The control interface enters through X6, while the high-current DC link is coupled at X8 so braking energy from parallel axes can be reused within the shared bus. Motor phase conductors terminate on X1, and rotor position is returned through the motor encoder socket X5 so the drive can regulate speed accurately. Mechanical fastening requires a screw torque of 3.7 ±0.2 Nm to keep the module seated against the heat sink without stressing the housing. A spindle encoder can also be wired to X55 when separate feedback for tool rotation is required.
Status and interlock functions are handled on additional low-level connections. Faults are indicated by the triple LED stack FC1, FC2, FC3, providing direct visual fault codes during operation. Drive enable is accepted on the field-grounded line FG, so the power stage remains inactive until the upstream controller signals readiness. Expansion boards mount at X35 for added I/O or communication functions, and ready contacts BTB1, BTB2 close after internal checks pass so external circuits can verify that the inverter is prepared for motion.
