The SPM 100-TD belongs to the SPM Inverter Modules series manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. As an inverter module, it interfaces between a shared DC bus and induction or synchronous motors, supplying the variable frequency and amplitude needed for precise speed control in automated machinery. The unit is installed in multi-axis drive cabinets, where its power electronics modulate DC-link energy to support coordinated motion profiles across production lines and material-handling cells.
The module is dimensioned for a maximum phase output of 100 A, allowing it to energize medium-frame motors without saturation. A stiff intermediate circuit operates at 520 V DC, giving the pulse-width modulator adequate voltage headroom for high fundamental frequencies. Internal logic and gate drivers are fed from a separate 24 V DC control supply, which isolates signal electronics from power disturbances. Protective hardware trips if instantaneous current rises above 1.5× the module peak current, and an FGI comparator disconnects the output after a delay of 2 s to prevent over-magnetization at very low stator frequencies. When the commanded frequency falls below 5 Hz, continuous RMS current is limited to 0.9 IN to reduce copper heating. Service terminals accept incoming mains links with a tightening torque of 3.7 Nm ±0.2 Nm, which helps maintain low contact resistance under vibration.
An integrated thermal model issues an I²t pre-alarm 0.5 s before the shutdown set point so the controller can reduce load in time. Mechanical retention of the motor leads is secured with a clamp that must be tightened to 4.5 Nm, ensuring strain relief during cabinet wiring. Three digital fault relays provide 3 independent status channels that are routed to pins X35.4 through X35.6 and mirrored on connector X110 for the cooling fan. These supervisory signals allow the control system to respond to overload and cooling-related events during operation.
