The SM 17/35-TA is an AC inverter produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the SM AC Inverters series. Designed for industrial automation, the unit converts a fixed DC link into a variable three-phase supply. This supports controlled speed and torque on connected motors in assembly lines, packaging cells, and other motion-centric equipment. A current regulator is integrated to shape the switching pattern, helping the inverter maintain stable output when load demand changes.
Its DC link operates between 460–700 V, a range that allows the inverter to connect to common rectifier buses without hardware changes. During continuous duty, the power stage delivers 17 A of phase current, while transient loads can draw up to 35 A. Thermal loading includes a power loss of 150 W, and a heat-sink monitor raises an alarm if internal temperature rises too far. If a mechanical jam occurs, the inverter cuts motor current by 50% in 2 s to limit heating in the connected motor and power stage. Commutation monitoring, integrated rotor-position feedback, and brushless tacho feedback supply real-time angle data so the vector-control algorithm can maintain accurate flux orientation across changing speeds.
Humidity tolerance follows DIN 40040, which helps protect the control boards against moisture commonly found on production floors. The inverter can be installed at elevations up to 1000 m amsl; above this height, additional cooling or derating is required. A built-in diagnostic optimization card provides access to operating trends without external modules.
