Product Description:
The SM 10/20-TC-DC belongs to the SM AC Inverters series manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. It is an AC inverter that translates rectified DC link energy into a variable-frequency, variable-voltage output. This allows connected motors to run with precise speed and torque profiles in a wide range of automated machinery, conveyors, or process equipment.
The control interface presents a command input impedance of 10 kOhm, which allows direct connection to standard analog set-point sources without loading them. A wide speed control ratio of 1:10,000 lets the inverter maintain feedback-based regulation from crawl speeds up to top rate. The power stage delivers a continuous output of 10 A and can supply up to 20 A for two-second overload events when acceleration demands increase. Inside the intermediate circuit, a 460 V DC link is maintained, providing headroom for high motor back-EMF during dynamic braking. Auxiliary consumption is limited to 20 W, and the ready relay can switch 24 V at 1 A DC for system status signaling. The unit can operate at altitudes up to 1000 m without derating, accepts a protective earth conductor of 2.5 mm², and offers a tacho output scale of 2.7 V per 1000 rpm for external instrumentation.
The cooling fan and logic enable share a supply of 24 V DC, with the fan drawing only 100 mA to keep semiconductor temperatures in check. Feedback wiring is supported with encoder cables up to 100 m long, permitting remote motor placement while maintaining clean signals. Thermal losses are capped at 90 W, so enclosure ventilation can be sized accurately. The open-frame construction carries a protection rating of IP00, meaning it must be installed inside a switch cabinet that provides the required protection, yet this arrangement simplifies access for cable routing and maintenance.
