The SM 10/18-GTC is an AC inverter produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the SM AC Inverters series. Installed between the mains and an induction motor, it synthesizes variable frequency and voltage outputs so machine speed and torque can match process demand. By converting the fixed three-phase supply and managing energy in its internal DC link, the unit serves drive tasks in conveyors, pumps, and general motion axes in industrial automation environments. This operating method allows the connected motor to run at application-matched speed instead of only at line frequency, which helps support smoother starting and process control under changing loads.

The inverter draws a line supply of 380-415 V AC and rectifies it to a DC bus that operates between 460-700 V DC. From this intermediate stage, the control section generates an output of 0-380 V AC while providing frequency modulation from 0-150 Hz. This adjustable output helps the motor develop torque from standstill through oversynchronous speeds and also supports gradual acceleration or speed trimming as process conditions change. Continuous load current of 10 A can be delivered without derating, while standby consumption remains limited to 20 W. If the shaft is blocked, the inverter waits 2 s before engaging a 50% stall current reduction, which helps protect the windings and power semiconductors from thermal overload during brief process jams.

Physical proportions support panel integration: height is 11 cm, width is 32 cm, and depth is 40 cm. The enclosure weighs 11 kg, which keeps handling straightforward during installation and cabinet placement. Rated performance is maintained at ambient temperatures from 0 °C to 50 °C and at installation altitudes up to 1000 m. When stored or transported, acceptable temperatures range from -25 °C to 70 °C. Cabinet ventilation should keep the unit within its operating limits during normal service.
