The SM 10/20-TS02 is an AC inverter produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the SM AC Inverters series. Designed for cabinet integration, the unit processes a fixed DC bus and feeds matched three-phase motors, enabling precise frequency and voltage control in automated conveyors, packaging lines, and material-handling stations. It serves as the intermediate link between the plant’s rectified supply and the motor, ensuring adjustable speed command and coordinated torque delivery for reliable motion sequences.
The inverter supplies a continuous phase current of 10 A but can deliver up to 20 A for two-second overload events, providing short bursts of extra torque during acceleration. Its internal link can rise to 700 V, so component spacing and insulation must accommodate this potential. Under maximum load the electronics dissipate 90 W, and forced air removes the heat; a blower running from a 24 V DC source draws 100 mA and consumes 20 W. Ambient service is permitted to 55 °C, yet current must be reduced by 1.2 % per kelvin above the nominal reference. If the motor temperature reaches 140 °C, the drive issues an over-temperature trip to prevent winding damage.
Speed precision is supported by a regulating ratio of 1:10,000, allowing tight control from crawl to full base speed. The rated DC link of 460 V keeps the modulation range centered on standard industrial bus levels. Installation altitude is limited to 1000 m AMSL to keep cooling airflow and dielectric strength within design limits, and storage is permissible up to 70 °C when the drive is de-energized. The open-frame enclosure carries a IP00 rating, so it must be mounted inside a protected panel where the ready relay can switch 24 V at 1 A for system status signaling.
