The SE-B4.170.030-14.000 is a synchronous servo motor manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the SE Synchronous Servo Motors series. In automation cells, it converts regulated drive current into rotary motion for axis positioning, indexing tables, and similar applications that require accurate speed control and repeatable torque. The integrated brake holds the load in position when power is removed, while the feedback interface reports shaft speed to the drive for closed-loop regulation.
The mounting interface uses a 142 ± 0.7 mm square flange, while the 130 mm pilot has a j6 tolerance to center the housing on gearboxes or machine plates. Power is transmitted through a shaft with a diameter of 24 mm with a k5 tolerance, allowing the use of keyed couplings. The shaft extension measures 50 ± 0.5 mm, providing sufficient engagement depth for clamping hubs. The integrated holding brake provides 18 Nm of holding torque to prevent unwanted shaft movement when the motor is not operating. Including the brake, the motor weighs 21 kg and has an overall length of 362 mm, allowing it to fit medium-frame axis drives. The power conductors use a 2.5 mm² motor cable so the drive can deliver rated current without excessive voltage drop.
The brake coil operates from a 24 V DC ± 10% supply, and applying power releases the brake. Brake release takes approximately 55 ms, while mechanical engagement occurs about 50 ms after the coil is de-energized. Regenerated energy during stopping is dissipated through a 1.0 Ω plug resistor with an absorption capacity of 4,085 W·s, protecting the drive transistor from excessive energy. Rotor speed feedback is supplied by a tachogenerator with an output of 2.7 V/1000 rpm, allowing the drive to maintain an analog velocity loop without an encoder. The brake adds 1.7 kg to the assembly and contributes 0.90 × 10⁻³ kg·m² of inertia, helping the motor maintain responsive acceleration in pick-and-place and palletizing axes.
