The SE312 is a tightening controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the SB System Box Units series. Installed in automated assembly cells, the module supervises and records torque-controlled screwdriving operations. It uses closed-loop feedback to keep each joint within process tolerances while tracking fastening results for plant controls. When paired with handheld or fixture-mounted electric nutrunners, it supplies the control logic, power distribution, and fieldbus connectivity required for an integrated fastening station.

A dedicated tool can be mounted on one spindle because the SE312 supports a single tightening channel. Communication with PLC networks is handled through PROFIBUS-DP cyclic I/O with a capacity of 32 points (4 bytes). This connection allows status bits, result data, and command words to be exchanged without an additional gateway. The controller provides 10 SM24V inputs for devices such as presence switches and start buttons, while 13 SM24V outputs can operate stack lights, clamps, and fault indicators. Field wiring between the system box and the line tool can have a cable length of 100 m, allowing the electronics cabinet to remain outside the workstation while maintaining consistent signal timing.

The controller includes two interface slots that accept option cards for Ethernet, serial diagnostics, or alternative fieldbuses. These expansion positions allow the unit to connect with different plant communication systems without changing the primary controller. The enclosure weighs 1.4 kg, which simplifies installation on machine frames and inside compact control panels. Its low mass also limits the mechanical load placed on the mounting surface and reduces vibration transferred to sensitive internal boards. The compact enclosure leaves additional panel space available for power supplies, terminal blocks, protective devices, and related fastening equipment.
