Product Description:
Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the LT305 as part of the SB System Box Units series. This unit serves as a centralized interface between a machine controller and multiple spindle assemblies, allowing torque-based coordination of screw-driving or fastening stations in automated production lines. By housing motor-switching elements and signal-conversion hardware in a single enclosure, the module streamlines cabinet wiring and simplifies maintenance in high-volume assembly processes. Its centralized arrangement also reduces the number of separate components needed to connect the controller with the spindle assemblies.
The LT305 can regulate spindle loads up to 340 Nm for BG 4 tools and reach 1000 Nm when BG 5 heads are installed, so one box can cover a broad range of torque requirements without changing the electronics. These torque classes correspond to compatibility with BG 4 and BG 5 spindle sizes, allowing a standard frame to support different mechanical outputs through the attached transducer. Motor power is switched by an integrated contactor, so no external relay is needed to energize or isolate the drive circuit. The internal power bus supports a rack-planning current of 45 A, which is the maximum continuous draw that the cabinet supply conductors must accommodate. Parameter sets move from the supervisory PLC to the box over a dedicated communication link, eliminating analog drift and supporting repeatable torque profiles across identical stations.
The SB box connects to the upper-level drive or PLC through one controller cable, reducing the number of panel feed-through points. This harness may be routed up to 100 m without repeaters, allowing the electronics to be placed outside restricted or high-temperature areas while maintaining signal integrity. All process data, including torque curves and stop criteria, travel through the same path using digital parameter transfer. This shared communication path carries control information without requiring separate analog signal lines for each process value. Despite its power capacity, the enclosure weighs only 2.7 kg, so it can be mounted directly on lightweight machine frames or swing-out service panels without additional structural bracing.
