Product Description:
The LT304 system box unit is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and belongs to the SB System Box Units series. Designed as a slide-in module for decentralized assembly stations, the unit houses the power electronics and control interfaces used to coordinate multiple EC motors and spindle drives on automated tightening or handling lines. It provides a compact platform that simplifies cabling, delivers matched power to each spindle, and centralizes safety functions through its integrated contactor hardware. Its modular format also allows the power and control equipment to be installed together within a compatible system enclosure.
The internal power stage uses amplifier size 4, the highest drive rating offered in the SB family for torque-demanding tools. When paired with BG 3 spindles, it can deliver up to 55 Nm, while BG 4 shafts receive a peak torque of 340 Nm; these torque limits support precision tightening across a wide range of fastener sizes. A Bt300 backplane links the module to field controllers and provides 5 channels, allowing several spindles to be actuated independently. The backplane supports a permissible continuous bus current of 28 A, which must be considered when selecting protective devices and arranging the connected loads. Support for EC motor technology minimizes commutation losses, and the integrated motor contactor shortens the system response time during emergency stops.
The connection between the cabinet and tool head can include up to 6 cable sections, allowing distributed placement without signal degradation. The connection supports a maximum spindle distance of 100 m before signal refresh devices are required. To prevent conductor fatigue, cable routing must maintain a minimum bend radius of 10 times the cable diameter, which supports installation in drag chains and other moving cable systems. The slide-in cassette weighs 2.7 kg, reducing the load placed on cabinet rails and making the unit easier to handle during installation or maintenance. These installation limits allow the module to serve tools positioned at different points along an automated assembly line without requiring the power stage to be mounted beside every spindle.
