Internal Product Review
The LT303 is an SB System Box unit designed for EC motor applications, and the integrated motor contactor simplifies system integration. Controller linking is especially well executed, carrying power and communications over distances up to 100 m. Support for BG 2 and BG 3 spindles with torque capability up to 55 Nm makes this unit a highly capable drive interface.

Product Description:
The LT303 system box is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the SB System Box Units series. It is a drive and control module designed to operate one or two EC motor tightening spindles in automated assembly cells. By consolidating power electronics, parameter memory, and field wiring inside a sealed housing, the unit simplifies installation and provides consistent torque delivery across multiple production stations. This functionality allows production systems to monitor joint quality and reduce cycle times on engine, appliance, and chassis assembly lines.
The LT303 contains a size 3 (2) amplifier, allowing it to drive EC motors mounted in spindle sizes BG 2 and BG 3 without an external power stage. When a BG 2 spindle is connected, the BT300 bus can supply up to 7 A, while a BG 3 spindle can draw 14 A for higher torque requirements. A single controller-link cable distributes both power and communication signals over a distance of 100 m, so the box may be mounted away from the tightening head without losing signal integrity. An integrated motor contactor disconnects the output when the safety circuit opens, eliminating the need for a separate relay. Despite these functions, the enclosure weighs only 2.8 kg. The unit accepts EC motor feedback through a dedicated spindle cable, which supports remote placement of the controller cabinet relative to the tightening station.
Parameter data, including rundown curves, travels between the LT303 and higher-level tools through a digital communication channel, allowing joint-specific settings to be loaded without manual potentiometer adjustments. With those parameters in place, a BG 2 spindle connected through the unit can reach 12 Nm of tightening torque, while a BG 3 spindle can attain up to 55 Nm. The supported spindle cable length keeps encoder and power conductors within the permitted range, helping the system capture spindle angle accurately during each tightening cycle. This arrangement also gives assembly layouts flexibility when the control equipment cannot be installed beside the workstation.
