Product Description:

The RZP01.1-C1 option card is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and belongs to the RZP Option Modules series. Installed inside Rexroth drive or motion controllers, the board expands local process capability by adding mixed-signal I/O and a CAN fieldbus interface. This allows actuators, sensors, and distributed nodes to be addressed from a single master in machine tools, packaging lines, and material-handling systems. It suits control layouts that need both local signal handling and networked device communication on the same expansion card. Because it installs inside the host controller, the module adds these interfaces without requiring a separate external gateway or standalone I/O unit.

It provides eight analog input channels and eight analog output channels, each converted at 16-bit resolution to preserve small voltage or current changes when driving proportional valves or reading precision transducers. The board also exposes 32 digital inputs and 32 digital outputs for high-speed binary control. This combination supports proportional control, status sensing, and discrete interlocks on one module. Data exchange occurs over CAN at selectable rates of 125, 250, or 500 kbit/s, or 1 Mbit/s, so bus length can be balanced against throughput. The physical CAN link uses a 9-pin D-SUB (X44) connector, and all circuitry fits on a compact 104 x 86 mm printed circuit board. The compact board size helps it fit crowded control assemblies where enclosure space is limited.

During operation, the host backplane supplies +5 V and +15 V to power the logic, while the field side remains separated by opto-isolators. Network messaging follows the CANopen protocol, and the card comes from the factory with node ID 3. For long cable runs, an external 120 Ω terminator at both ends is required to maintain signal integrity and prevent reflections. Galvanic isolation is active across every channel, helping limit noise transfer between the controller electronics and connected field wiring. Proper termination is especially important on longer cable runs where reflections can interfere with CAN signaling.
