Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the RZE02.1-5-005, an EMC filter in the RZE EMC Filters series. Positioned on the incoming side of a variable-speed drive, the component suppresses high-frequency noise that might otherwise return to the plant mains or disturb nearby control electronics. This is especially useful where fast switching in the drive can couple unwanted noise into sensitive control circuits. By providing an impedance path across the three-phase supply conductors, it helps frequency converters meet emission limits and reduces interference with sensors, fieldbus networks, and safety relays inside the automation cabinet.
For standard industrial networks, the filter accepts a nominal line frequency of 50/60 Hz, so it can connect to either European or North American utility grids without modification. Its maximum line voltage rating is 3 × AC 500 V ±10%, which allows normal tolerance for supply variation. The continuous line current capability is 20 A, which is the highest RMS current the device can carry during operation. A protection class of IP20 indicates touch-protected terminals but no sealing against dust or liquids, so the unit is intended for enclosed panels. The filter remains within its thermal range at ambient temperatures up to 40 °C. Line configuration code 02 means that no commutation reactor is integrated, which keeps impedance low for converters that already include DC-link chokes.
The filter is rated for converters up to 3.5 kW, which helps match it to appropriately sized drive systems. The unit is design version 1, indicating the first layout used for this model family. It uses the A size class, which supports a compact footprint for side-by-side mounting on 35 mm DIN rail.
