The RKL4642 is a motor power cable produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and belongs to the RKL Motor Power Cables series. It links a drive controller to a synchronous servo motor, carrying phase power, protective earth, and auxiliary signals required for closed-loop motion in industrial automation cells.
The RKL4642 employs the bulk cable type INK0603, so the insulation and conductor lay-up match Rexroth drive families. Each of its power conductors has a cross-section of 4.0 mm², supporting typical continuous currents for medium-frame servomotors. At 20 °C the loop resistance is 4.95 Ohm/km, a figure used when calculating voltage drop over long energy-chains. For signal integrity, the cable shows a discharge capacity of 0.8 nF/m, limiting reactive load on the controller output stage. Despite the four conductors and protective earth, the overall diameter is only 17.0 mm, which simplifies routing through drag-chain carriers and tight cabinet glands.
The controller side is pre-assembled with the RLS0723 connector, while the motor end is terminated with ring cable lugs for RKS clamps, allowing direct connection to terminal studs inside Indramat motors. Two auxiliary pairs sized 2x1.0 mm² + 2x1.5 mm² share the sheath with the power cores and provide temperature sensor or brake lines without a separate harness. The sheath itself is moulded from PUR (adhesion-free, matte) so oil, coolant and weld spatter do not stick, and its bright RAL 2003 orange colour keeps high-voltage paths visible in multi-cable trays. A total of 4 (3P+PE) power cores are arranged concentrically around an earth reference, which keeps symmetry and supports the low capacitive value discussed earlier.
