The RKL4580 is a motor power cable manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the RKL Motor Power Cables series. Designed for servo and spindle interconnections, the assembly conveys three-phase power and low-level control signals between a drive controller and its motor in automated machinery. Its geometry and materials support continuous movement in cable tracks while maintaining signal integrity and mechanical durability.
Under motion, the cable must flex repeatedly, so two curvature limits apply. When the route is stationary, the minimum bend radius is 5 × D, whereas drag-chain service calls for a wider 7.5 × D loop to reduce conductor stress. Each of the three copper power cores has a cross-sectional area of 16.0 mm², permitting efficient transmission of a 300/500 V supply under VDE standards or a 600 V AC supply under UL standards. Two shielded control pairs with a 2 × (2 × 1.5 mm²) StC arrangement share the jacket and can serve brake release or sensor circuits. A molded INS0623 plug at the motor end provides a standardized connection and reduces assembly time. The PUR sheath resists oil, coolant, and abrasion, while its halogen-free composition limits toxic emissions during a fire.
The cabinet side is fitted with RKS ring terminals, allowing direct connection to busbars or contactors without additional crimping. The cable has an overall diameter of 25.5 mm, which is an important value when selecting metric glands and calculating fill ratios in energy chains. Visibility is enhanced by the RAL 2003 orange sheath, which distinguishes live motor circuits from signal lines. The conductors may operate continuously at temperatures up to +90 °C, supporting installation near braking resistors or inside warm machine enclosures. The cable is suitable for drag-chain motion, where repeated flexing subjects the conductors and outer jacket to continuous mechanical stress. Its oil-resistant sheath also supports operation in machinery where lubricants or coolant may contact exposed cable runs.
