The RKL4490 is a flexible motor power cable manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the RKL Motor Power Cables series. In automated cells, it carries three-phase output from a drive controller to a synchronous or induction motor while also routing brake and sensor signals through separate control cores. The cable is intended for drag-chain installations and stationary routing, giving machine builders a single part number that meets motion-axis power and grounding requirements in industrial automation.
The overall diameter of the sheath measures 29.8 mm, a dimension that must be considered when sizing cable trays and glands. Each phase conductor uses a 25.0 mm² copper cross section, allowing low voltage drop during the high-current transients typical of servo acceleration. Long cable runs remain efficient because the conductor resistance is limited to 0.78 Ω/km. When the cable is installed in constantly moving energy chains, it may be bent to a dynamic radius of 7.5 × D without exceeding mechanical stress limits. Four power cores, consisting of three phases and protective earth, are supplemented by 1.5 mm² control pairs that support temperature or brake signals. The RAL 2003 orange outer jacket makes the cable easy to identify inside a crowded cabinet.
For parked equipment or vertical risers that move only during maintenance, the cable tolerates a tighter 5 × D static bend. Mechanical endurance is rated for 5 million flex cycles, supporting use in high-duty gantries and other machinery with repetitive motion. The PUR sheath resists cutting oils and welding spatter, helping preserve the integrity of the cable insulation. On the drive side, a coded RLS0723/K25 circular connector permits quick connection without field crimping. The motor side is supplied with ferrules and ring terminals that fit standard Rexroth terminal boxes. Separate control pairs allow auxiliary signals to remain organized apart from the larger phase conductors during installation and operation.
