The RKG0055 is an encoder cable manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RKG Encoder Cables series. This flexible interconnect links motor-mounted feedback devices to Indramat drive controllers, transmitting the position and diagnostic signals needed for closed-loop speed and torque control in automated machinery. The cable is supplied in a predefined configuration with molded connectors, eliminating the need for custom terminations during installation. Its flexible design supports routing on conveyors, pick-and-place gantries, and other motion axes that require reliable feedback during repeated movement. The completed assembly also reduces the amount of connector preparation required at the machine.
Mechanical durability is supported by a service life of 5,000,000 bending cycles during continuous movement inside cable carriers. The assembly is a ready-made harness that terminates with an RGS1711 plug on the drive side and an RGS0008 plug on the encoder side. These molded terminations eliminate crimping at the machine and provide dedicated connections for the drive controller and feedback device. Because the cable is rated for drag-chain use, its sheath and conductors tolerate rapid reciprocating travel while maintaining signal integrity. A dynamic bending radius of 7.5 × D limits conductor stress and must be maintained when arranging the cable carrier. The cable is halogen-free, oil-resistant, and completely silicone-free, making it suitable for machinery exposed to lubricants and areas where silicone contamination could interfere with painting processes.
Long-term chemical and thermal stability are provided by the PUR outer jacket, which resists abrasion during repeated movement through energy chains. The jacket is orange (RAL 2003), making the cable easy to distinguish from surrounding power and control wiring. The conductors may operate continuously at temperatures up to 80 °C, allowing the cable to function near warm servo motors and other heat-producing equipment. During fixed routing outside cable carriers, a static bending radius of 4 × D may be used without exceeding the permitted insulation strain. This tighter fixed-routing radius supports compact cable paths through machine frames and control panels. The jacket’s oil resistance helps protect the cable where lubricants or coolant residue may contact exposed routing sections.
