The RKG0050 flexible encoder cable is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and belongs to the RKG Encoder Cables series. As an interconnect for incremental or absolute encoders, it routes feedback signals from moving machine axes back to the drive controller, maintaining reliable communication in industrial automation lines. Both ends of the assembly are factory-fitted with matching RGS0002 plugs, allowing immediate connection to Rexroth encoder sockets and eliminating the need for on-site terminations. The cable is dimensioned for installation alongside servo power cables inside drag-chain assemblies.
The mechanical design supports 5,000,000 flexing events during continuous motion, making the assembly suitable for high-duty carrier systems. When the cable moves, the minimum permissible radius is 7.5 x D, a value that prevents conductor fatigue under dynamic loading. For stationary routing the restriction relaxes to 4 x D, so tighter bends inside control cabinets are allowed. Each termination is a Plug Connector RGS0002 with full shielding to keep encoder signals immune to electrical noise. The outer sheath is formed from PUR, a material that resists cutting fluids and maintains elasticity at low temperatures. The construction is halogen-free, oil-resistant, and released for use in drag chains where lubricants and rapid cycles coincide.
The jacket colour is Orange (RAL 2003), providing quick visual identification of feedback wiring among power and pneumatic lines. During service the cable tolerates ambient temperatures from -20 °C up to 80 °C, so axis movement can continue inside un-heated halls or warm machine enclosures. Storage limits extend down to -40 °C, while the upper storage ceiling remains at the same 80 °C, ensuring the polymer sheath does not warp in warehouse conditions. Because no halogens are present, combustion products are non-corrosive, and the PUR layer maintains oil resistance, so the cable can be kept in spares inventory or routed through machines without additional conduit.
