Product Description:
The RKB0020 cable is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the RKB Control Cables series. Designed for industrial automation, this flexible data line links servo drives and control hardware, allowing deterministic field communication across moving machine elements. It can be routed through energy chains or robot arms where continuous flexing is expected while maintaining signal integrity. The flexible design accommodates repetitive machine movement without placing excessive mechanical stress on the internal conductors.
The cable supports the SERCOS III bus system, so its core impedance and twisted pairs meet the timing requirements of this real-time Ethernet protocol. The conductor geometry is classified as CAT.5, enabling 100 Mbit/s full-duplex operation. Each end is fitted with an RJ45 plug, and the eight gold-plated contacts inside each connector use the standard pin assignment for differential pairs. During dynamic motion, the cable can withstand up to 5,000,000 flex cycles when it is guided with a minimum bending radius of 7.5 × D, where D represents the outer diameter. Proper routing reduces conductor fatigue in energy chains used on high-stroke pick-and-place axes. The connector arrangement also permits a direct network link without separate adapters at either end of the cable.
The cable uses braided and foil shielding to limit electromagnetic noise when nearby variable-frequency drives switch at high edge rates. Its straight connector orientation simplifies routing through panels and machine frames where clearance is limited. For stationary routing or occasional bending during installation, the minimum bending radius can be reduced to 5 × D without stressing the cores. The operating temperature ranges from -30 °C to 80 °C, within which the PVC jacket retains its flexibility and dielectric strength. During storage, the lower temperature limit remains unchanged, while the upper limit is 40 °C. Observing these temperature and bending limits helps protect the jacket, shielding, and internal twisted pairs from premature mechanical damage.
