The Bosch RD52.1-4B-005-L-V1-FW is a RD52 drive controller. It supports 24 Volts stand-by power. This feature allows the control electronics on the drive to operate even when the main AC input is unavailable. This features also allows drive parameterization to be performed when the AC supply is unavailable. However the standby power feature does requires an external 24 Volts DC power supply. Other additional functions that can be ordered for RD52 drives include feedback of current filter and starting lockout. The RD52.1-4B-005-L-V1-FW is a converter-based drive. The converter comes with an integrated brake chopper. The drive input can be operated with either 380 to 480 Volts AC or 200 to 230 Volts AC. The rated motor output is 5.5 kilowatts at 380 to 480 Volts AC and 2.8 kilowatts at 200 to 230 Volts AC.

The RD52.1-4B-005-L-V1-FW is only compatible with three-phase AC input. A line reactor and interference suppression filter on the drive help to reduce the harmonics that are fed back to the AC supply. The cooling method for which the RD52.1-4B-005-L-V1-FW drive is designed is forced air cooling. The minimum cooling air requirement recommended by Bosch is 0.03 cubic meters per second. Provision of this recommended air flow rate will ensure that the ambient temperature stays within the recommended 0 to 40 degrees Celsius. The output of the drive will derate if the ambient temperature exceeds 40 degrees Celsius. The operation of the RD52.1-4B-005-L-V1-FW drive at ambient temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius is not permitted. Protection category of the housing of the RD52.1-4B-005-L-V1-FW is IP20. This means that the drive has to be installed inside a control cabinet for protection against dust and liquids. Firmware for the system has to be ordered separately.
