The RS51.1-4G-050-L-V1-FW is a basic drive controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RD 500 Drive Controllers series. Operating as a three-phase AC converter, it conditions the factory mains and supplies variable voltage and frequency to induction motors used in conveying, pumping, or process mixing lines. The unit sits between the incoming feeder and the motor circuit, generating start-up ramps, controlled deceleration, and dynamic braking so that production equipment meets cycle-time and torque requirements. Because its output voltage and frequency are adjusted together, it fits general-purpose variable-speed duties where stable motor operation is more important than highly dynamic servo response.

The drive uses U/f control across the full 380 to 480 V input span and includes an integrated mains filter to reduce conducted noise on the supply. A built-in brake chopper with a 10 Ω resistor can absorb up to 80 kW of regenerative energy during rapid stops. Under S6 duty, the inverter delivers 41 kVA continuously, draws a nominal current of 66 A, and supports output frequencies from 0 to 1000 Hz. The enclosure is rated IP20, and forced-air cooling moves heat through internal channels to keep the power section within its normal operating temperature range.

For heavier transients, the controller can supply a rated current of 83 A and a 60-second peak output of 63 kVA while the brake chopper continues to clamp bus overvoltage. These short-term demands are supported by an airflow of 0.4 m³/s through the heat sink fins, and all input phases may fluctuate within ±10% without derating. An external 24 V standby supply keeps the control electronics active when the main power stage is de-energized, which allows status functions and parameter access to remain available while motor output is off.
