The RS51.1-4G-014-V-NN-FW basic drive is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RD 500 Drive Controllers series. It works as a power converter in automated production cells, adjusting motor voltage and frequency so conveyor speed, pump flow, or spindle rate can match process demand. By connecting to a higher-level controller through the fieldbus system, the unit replaces mechanical speed-changing components with electronic regulation. That approach supports smoother speed changes, more consistent process timing, and stable operation when load conditions vary during a production cycle. It can therefore support variable-speed duties where fixed-ratio mechanics would otherwise limit flexibility.

For line compatibility, the drive accepts input voltages from 380 to 480 V and is rated for 14 kVA of apparent power. The unit uses a 3-phase AC converter input, so the current load is shared across all three phases instead of being concentrated on one line. It can tolerate voltage variation of ±10 % from nominal without unnecessary trips in normal industrial power conditions. Output frequency is controlled by U/f curve control, which helps keep stator flux nearly constant across the speed range. The unit has a built-in brake chopper and resistor to dissipate regenerated energy during rapid deceleration and prevent DC-bus overvoltage. An integrated line filter reduces conducted interference toward the plant power supply and limits electrical noise sent back to upstream equipment.
