Its hardware includes a built-in brake chopper, which diverts regenerative energy into a resistor to help prevent DC-bus overvoltage during rapid deceleration. Motor flux is calculated by field-oriented vector control, allowing separate adjustment of torque-producing and magnetizing current for improved dynamic response. This control method also helps the motor respond more smoothly to load changes, especially during demanding speed transitions. Thermal loads are removed with forced air cooling, so the controller can deliver a continuous output of 5.5 kW without derating. This second-generation design operates from a three-phase AC converter front end. It maintains internal references within a control window of ±10 %, which helps keep pulse patterns stable when the incoming line fluctuates. Application functions include external stand-by power and a starting lock-out input, allowing control circuits to disable the inverter without fully isolating the drive. The standby supply keeps control functions available when the main power section is not actively driving the motor, which can shorten restart delay after a controlled stop.
