The RD52.1-8C-075-L-V1-FW is a controller manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RD 500 Drive Controllers series. Installed in centralized or distributed control cabinets, the unit converts digital speed references from a PLC into pulse-width-modulated commands for the attached power section. This lets it govern induction or synchronous motors used in conveyors, pumps, and process equipment, while its connection to the DC bus of an RD power supply links the drive hardware to the larger control system. Because the control section is separate from the power section, signal processing and power conversion remain coordinated in distinct cabinet modules.

The controller is rated to deliver 75 kW of motor power and draws energy from a DC link that can rise to 700 V. That voltage level helps the inverter stage maintain torque during temporary load increases without clipping the output waveform. The internal regulator uses field-oriented vector control, which independently adjusts flux and torque current for fast dynamic response and low steady-state error. Thermal limits are managed by forced air cooling, as a dedicated fan set moves cabinet air across the heat sinks so continuous operation at rated current is possible without liquid cooling. This control method supports smooth speed regulation across changing process demands and helps reduce speed error under varying load.

The controller is supplied from an Inverter DC bus and is identified as design generation 1, which keeps its mechanical and electrical format consistent with the first RD 500 frames. Control electronics remain active through an external 24 V standby power input, allowing parameter access while the main bus is de-energized. This also makes status information available without energizing the motor power path. It can also operate in RD51 SFT compatibility mode to match control logic used by earlier RD51 systems.
