Positioned between the incoming DC link and the motor terminals, the unit regulates synchronous or induction motor speed and torque in equipment such as conveyors, mixers, and test stands. It converts PLC reference commands into precise current vectors and generates the switching signals needed by the power semiconductors, which supports closed-loop motion control inside the cabinet. This arrangement allows the controller to manage both steady running and changing load conditions without requiring a separate external regulation stage.

Internally, the controller uses field-oriented vector control, so motor flux and torque are calculated separately and adjusted in real time. It draws energy from an inverter DC bus and is rated for a continuous link voltage of 530 to 670 V, which suits common 600 V industrial power systems. At maximum load, it delivers 18.5 kW to the connected motor. The unit is supplied without a built-in brake chopper, so regenerative energy must be handled by an external resistor or returned through the larger power system. A front-mounted HMI provides access to parameters and diagnostics, and one option slot is available for added feedback or fieldbus functions.

Thermal management uses forced-air cooling, with a rear fan moving cabinet air across the heat sink to support continuous operation at rated current. The hardware is part of Design generation 1, which matches the first release of compatible option modules and wiring sets in this product line. Application-specific add-ons are not equipped, so the base unit remains open for the functions selected for the axis. Control code is loaded separately before startup, and the standard platform supports both induction and synchronous motor applications.
