As a standalone power electronics module, it regulates three-phase induction or synchronous motors in automated plant lines, using vector-based modulation to match speed and torque with process commands. Within an automation cabinet, it connects between the mains supply and the motor and provides closed-loop regulation for conveyors, extruders, and high-capacity pumps.

Its continuous output capability reaches 160 kW, allowing it to operate motors used in heavy material handling or large hydraulic power units. The power stage accepts incoming mains in the 380 to 480 V range, so a fixed transformer is not normally required on standard industrial grids.
