The RD52.1-4N-132-R-NN-FW is a drive controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the RD 500 Drive Controllers series. In an automation cell, it sits between the line supply and an induction or synchronous motor, modulating current and frequency so motion profiles match the program running in the PLC. By converting fixed-frequency plant power into a regulated output, the unit supports closed-loop speed and torque management in conveyor lines, extruders, test stands, and other high-power machines. The controller is intended for applications where motor speed must be adjusted continuously rather than fixed by line frequency alone.

This controller is fed from a three-phase AC converter supply within a permitted range of 380 to 480 V. At nominal operating conditions, it can deliver 132 kW to the motor terminals, a level suited to large pumps, compressors, and similar heavy-duty loads. Thermal energy from the IGBTs and bus capacitors is removed by liquid cooling with an internal pump, which helps keep cabinet temperatures stable in high-power installations. Current vectors are generated through field-oriented vector control, so flux and torque are regulated independently and the motor can react quickly to load changes. That control approach is useful where heavy rotating loads create sudden torque demand at startup or during process changes.

The drive uses an integrated AC filter, so no external EMC component is required. It comes without a built-in brake chopper, so a separate resistor module must be added if regenerative energy needs to be dissipated during braking. The input stage accepts variation of ±10 % without reduced output during normal operation. Its mechanical platform is design generation 1, which matches first-series RD plug-in option cards. The control option slots remain available for application-specific modules.
