Bosch Rexroth automation systems integrate ultra-efficient drive and motion control components that ensure the delivery of smooth and high-performance operations. One of them is the three-phase RD 500 drive system for synchronous and induction motors. Its modules can easily be customized to specific drive applications and mounted in a control cabinet, thanks to the overall compact design of the system. To enhance its user-oriented function, simple handling is enhanced in the system with features like automatic motor adaptation with parameter identification. One of the drive motion control units in this system is the RD52.1-4N-045-W-NN-FW.
Using field-oriented regulation, the RD52.1-4N-045-W-NN-FW controls drives in the RD 500 drive system. It is a converter type unit that requires a nominal AC supply voltage that ranges from 380V to 480V (with a ±
10% allowance) from a three-phase source. The output power rating with this supply voltage is 45 kW and the device can be operated at multiple pulse width modulation (PWM) ranging from 4 kHz to 12 kHz. Depending on the pulse frequency at which it is operated, it can produce an output frequency of up to 1400 Hz. It belongs to size class C and has a cooling air requirement of 0.2m3/s.
Firmware can be used with the RD52.1-4N-045-W-NN-FW but it must be as specified by Bosch Rexroth and ordered as a separate subposition. For its cooling, it employs liquid cooling using a coolant and requires an ambient temperature between 0oC and 40oC for operation. Since it has an IP 20 degree of protection according to EN 60529, it is touchproof and resistant to damage caused by dust and objects bigger than 12mm.
