Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactured the RD52.1-4B-160-R-V1-FW drive controller as part of the RD 500 Drive Controllers series. The unit connects to a three-phase AC supply and uses an internal converter stage to control speed and torque in industrial motors under automated control loops. A built-in brake chopper dissipates regenerated energy through matched resistors. The controller also includes an integrated mains filter and terminals for 24 V external standby power. This arrangement lets the drive respond to commanded operating points from a higher-level control system while managing motor behavior under changing load conditions.
During steady operation, the controller delivers a rated motor output of 160 kW while drawing a rated current of 290 A and presenting 191 kVA of apparent power at a 4 kHz switching frequency. The permissible mains voltage spans 380 to 480 V AC, and the electronics tolerate a ±10% deviation so installation on lightly regulated grids is acceptable.
