It is designed for mains networks from 380 to 480 V, and a supply tolerance of ±10 % lets the power stage remain stable during voltage dips or swells that are common in plant environments. It uses a converter for 3 x AC supply input stage that first rectifies incoming line power and then produces a regulated three-phase output waveform. Motion is regulated by field-oriented vector control; this algorithm resolves stator current into torque-producing and flux-producing components so dynamic response is maintained even at low speeds. Design generation 1 hardware supports these functions.
A built-in brake chopper dissipates regenerative energy through external resistors, protecting the DC link when a loaded motor decelerates rapidly. Thermal management is handled by forced-air cooling, so correct airflow through the heat sink must be maintained inside the cabinet. An integrated mains filter suppresses conducted electromagnetic noise, simplifying compliance with plant EMC limits. For control electronics and fieldbus gateways, the unit accepts an external 24 V standby power feed. This keeps parameter memory and communication active even when the main supply is isolated.
