Indramat Refu’s RD 500 drive system has a modular hardware and software design that allows it to be tailored to suit specific drive applications. It is a flexible state-of-the-art phase drive system for operating various synchronous and induction motors. The components of this system are AC drive converters, inverters for DC supply, and rectifier and supply modules. They are used in chemical and process technology, food packaging and processing machines, and machine tools.
The RD52.1-4B-045-L-V1-FW is a model of the converter units of the universal three-phase RD 500 drive system. It is a Design 1 type that performs its motion control function through field-oriented regulation. The required voltage for its operation is a three-phase AC voltage supply that ranges between 380V and 480V with a tolerance of ±10%. This converter features a built-in brake chopper with a continuous power of 27kW and a peak power rating of 111kW for one second. The minimum resistance value of the brake chopper is 5.8 Ohms. Cooling is achieved via forced-air cooling in this converter model, and its cooling air requirement is 0.2m3/s.
According to EN 60529, the RD52.1-4B-045-L-V1-FW has an IP 20 degree of protection, except at its connection terminals. This indicates that it is impenetrable by solid extrinsic objects of 20mm diameter or more. A removable panel is also present on the converter to operate, monitor, and parameterize the RD 500 system.
