The RD51.1-5N-015-L-NN-FW is a drive controller from the RD 500 Drive Controllers series manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. It links a three-phase mains supply to an induction motor and modulates output voltage and frequency so motor speed and torque follow commands from a PLC or local keypad. This operating method makes it suitable for variable-speed duty in conveyors, pumps, and fans. The modular housing helps maintain a consistent cabinet layout when several drives are installed together. It can be used wherever adjustable motor speed is needed without changing the incoming mains supply.

The controller supports up to 15.0 kW of mechanical output, which suits mid-sized centrifugal pumps and material-handling axes. It is intended for systems that operate around 500 V, where the inverter can maintain motor flux without derating under normal conditions. An input stage identified as Converter 3 × AC rectifies the incoming supply to a DC link before the output stage reconstructs a three-phase waveform. Drive regulation uses U/f curve control, which keeps a linear voltage-to-frequency relationship at low speed instead of relying on sensor-based vector control. Because this method is straightforward, it suits applications that do not require encoder-based speed regulation. Heat is removed by forced air cooling, which moves cabinet air across the heat sink to support stable semiconductor temperatures.

The unit comes without a built-in brake chopper, so applications that need dynamic braking during rapid deceleration require an external add-on module. Braking energy is therefore not dissipated internally by the base unit. It is part of design generation 1, which places it in the first hardware release of the RD 500 platform. The option slot area is not equipped, leaving user terminals available for thermistor input, relay signaling, or analog reference wiring. With no plug-in option card installed, the standard configuration remains focused on the basic inverter functions.
