The RD51.1-5B-018-L-V1-FW is a drive controller manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the RD 500 Drive Controllers series. Designed for cabinet-mounted use, the unit converts fixed-frequency mains power into a variable output for three-phase induction motors so production equipment can match speed to process demand. By regulating motor speed and torque, it supports conveyors, pumps, and similar motion axes in industrial automation lines. Because the platform uses a modular design, power components, option cards, and application software are selected separately to suit the intended duty and control requirements.

Rated for 18.5 kW of motor power, the controller draws energy from a 500 V DC link created by a three-phase AC converter supply section. Output voltage is regulated by U/f curve control, so the V/Hz ratio remains constant as frequency changes. Excess regenerative energy is dissipated by the integrated built-in brake chopper, which helps prevent overvoltage in the intermediate circuit during deceleration. This Version 1 hardware platform adds external 24 V standby power so the control electronics can remain energized while the main stages are isolated. Application software is not preinstalled, and it must be ordered as a separate subposition to match process requirements and drive topology. With logic power available during lockout, fault logs can be retrieved and parameters can be adjusted without re-energizing the mains section.
