This unit converts fixed mains energy into a variable output that matches the demands of squirrel-cage induction motors used in material handling, packaging lines, and general factory automation. Through internal current and voltage modulation, it supports closed-cabinet mounting while communicating with higher-level PLCs for start, stop, and reference commands. That operating method lets the controller adjust motor speed to match changing process demand during normal machine operation.

Its control strategy relies on U/f curve control, so motor flux remains nearly constant across the operating range. Line power is accepted through a three-phase AC converter supply, and the DC link supports input levels up to 500 V. When matched with a standard four-pole motor, the inverter can deliver mechanical output up to 7.5 kW without derating. Thermal stability under continuous load is maintained by forced air cooling, and an integrated fan channels cabinet air across the heat sink to keep semiconductor junction temperatures within acceptable limits. Dynamic braking energy is dissipated by a built-in brake chopper, allowing rapid deceleration on moderate-inertia systems without an external resistor. The integrated chopper absorbs regenerated energy during deceleration and helps prevent DC-bus overvoltage trips. The unit includes the combination C1 + F1 option, which adds additional I/O and frequency functions compared with the base model. The drive is in generation 1, which supports compatibility with early RD 500 accessories such as bus couplers and keypad panels. The control logic requires separately ordered firmware, so the selected software revision can be matched to the installation.
