The RD51.1-4N-110-L-V1-FW is a power conversion module manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the RD 500 Drive Controllers series. It conditions three-phase plant power and supplies a controlled output to standard induction motors, allowing variable-speed operation and stable torque in material-handling lines, mixers, and other continuous-duty automation tasks. This arrangement lets the drive match motor speed to process demand instead of running directly from fixed mains frequency. It is intended for installations that need repeatable motor control without a direct mechanical speed change at the load. An integrated mains filter also helps reduce conducted emissions at the supply connection.

The unit is a three-phase AC converter that accepts line voltages from 380 to 480 V with a permissible variation of ±10 %. Open-loop regulation follows a U/f curve control profile that keeps motor flux more consistent as output frequency changes, which is useful for standard induction motors in constant-torque operating ranges. The power stage is rated for 110 kW of continuous output, making the module suitable for high-power pumps, extruders, and fan arrays. The accepted input range supports operation on industrial networks that may experience moderate voltage fluctuation. Because the input filter is built in, cabinet wiring is simpler and there is no need to add a separate external line choke for basic installation.

A dedicated input supplies 24 V standby power so parameter memory and fieldbus communication remain active when the main supply is isolated. Keeping the control electronics active during main power isolation helps preserve status information and communication availability. Thermal management relies on forced-air cooling, with top-mounted fans directing airflow through the heat sink to support full-load operation during extended run periods. The drive comes without a built-in brake chopper, so applications that require rapid deceleration or frequent regenerative braking need external braking hardware. The unit is in Design Generation 1.
