The RD51.1-4B-132-F-NN-FW is a drive controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the RD 500 Drive Controllers series. It serves as the central power stage for three-phase induction motors, converting fixed-frequency mains energy into variable frequency and voltage so that conveyor lines, pumps, and processing equipment can start smoothly and run at controlled speeds. By adjusting motor operation to the needs of the process, the unit can reduce mechanical stress on shafts, couplings, and driven machinery during startup and speed changes. It can also support both constant-flow processes and variable-demand machinery without relying on direct-on-line motor starting.

This controller uses U/f curve control, so magnetic flux stays proportional as frequency changes and torque remains available at lower speeds. The power section accepts a mains range of 380 to 480 V and tolerates supply variation up to ±10 % without derating. When paired with a correctly sized motor, the output can provide up to 132 kW of mechanical power. The input stage uses a three-phase AC converter input, combining rectification and intermediate-circuit regulation for standard industrial power systems. Because voltage rises with frequency in a controlled manner, the drive supports general-purpose speed regulation for standard induction motors across normal operating ranges.

A built-in brake chopper dissipates regenerated energy and helps prevent DC-bus overvoltage during rapid deceleration or overhauling loads. Thermal stability is supported by integrated forced-air cooling with liquid circulation, which moves heat away from power components during sustained operation and helps the unit handle continuous industrial duty. Conducted emissions are reduced by the integrated mains filter, and this version does not include optional technology functions. The unit is part of design generation 1.
