The RD51.1-4B-007-D-D1-FW drive controller is built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and belongs to the RD 500 Drive Controllers series. As a pulse-width-modulated converter, it regulates three-phase induction motors in automated lines, conveyors, and process machinery by matching motor frequency and voltage to the commanded speed. The unit functions as a central power module inside a cabinet, linking plant mains to field motors while supplying diagnostic data to higher-level control systems. This arrangement lets the control system send operating commands while the drive manages the electrical conversion required for smooth motor operation.

The controller connects to plant mains through a 380 to 480 V input window, and this operating range remains within a permissible ±10 % tolerance band. Power enters through a Converter 3 x AC front end that rectifies the incoming supply and then produces a variable-frequency output for the motor. At a continuous rating of 7.5 kW, the unit can drive medium-sized motors in standard industrial applications. Speed and torque are managed with U/f curve control, which keeps stator voltage proportional to frequency so magnetic flux stays stable across the usable speed range. The control section supports coordinated starts, running changes, and deceleration without requiring separate power conversion hardware.

Thermal energy is removed through a plug-through cooler (≤ 110 kW) that extends outside the cabinet, helping keep internal electronics close to ambient temperature when several drives share an enclosure. Dynamic braking energy is handled by a built-in brake chopper, which reduces the need for external braking components in many 7.5 kW installations. An integrated mains filter reduces conducted interference on the supply connection. Field wiring is organized through a NAMUR terminal strip, and the 24 V standby supply keeps the control electronics active for parameter access when the main bus is de-energized.
