The unit functions as a variable-speed drive controller that converts fixed mains power into a controllable output for three-phase induction motors. This allows automated conveyor lines, pumps, and packaging stations to match commanded speed and torque without changing mechanical components.

The controller supplies up to 5.5 kW of motor power, which is the maximum mechanical power the connected drive can deliver during continuous duty. It accepts a line voltage window of 380 to 480 V, enabling installation on standard industrial networks across multiple regions. Line fluctuations are accommodated within a ±10 % tolerance, so the drive can continue operating when the utility supply deviates from nominal. Motor magnetization follows a U/f curve control profile; as output frequency rises, the controller adjusts voltage proportionally to help keep magnetic flux constant and prevent torque loss at low speeds. Thermal management relies on forced air cooling, and an internal fan moves air across heat-sink fins to remove switching and conduction losses.

The power section uses a 3 x AC converter stage, rectifying and inverting the three-phase mains to generate a variable-frequency output for the motor. A built-in brake chopper diverts regenerative energy to a resistor during rapid deceleration, preventing DC-bus overvoltage and allowing faster stops. To reduce conducted emissions, the housing contains an integrated mains filter, which simplifies cabinet wiring. Control electronics remain energized during machine downtime by means of 24 V standby power, keeping parameter memory and fieldbus nodes active while the main power stage is off.
