By adjusting output voltage and frequency, it enables accurate speed control and helps protect connected machinery from torque surges common in industrial automation. This makes it suitable for installations that need stable motor operation across changing process loads.

Power dissipation from regenerative braking is handled internally by the built-in brake chopper, eliminating the need for an external resistor on smaller installations. Motor flux is modulated through U/f curve control, a method suited to constant-torque conveyors and variable-torque pumps. Thermal energy is removed through a plug-through cooler rated for frames up to 110 kW. This design routes much of the heat dissipation outside the cabinet and helps reduce enclosure temperature. Supply harmonics are attenuated by the integrated mains filter, improving electromagnetic compatibility without extra line reactors. Under nominal conditions, the unit delivers 3.0 kW of output power, matching low-horsepower drive sections that still require vector functionality. The controller is supplied without optional application-specific functions, leaving parameter slots available for user configuration.

Incoming energy is accepted from a three-phase AC converter supply. The input window spans 380 to 480 V, allowing the same hardware to be wired to common 400 V and 460 V plant buses. Line variations of up to ±10 % are tolerated without derating, helping maintain stable operation during normal supply fluctuations. This hardware belongs to Design Generation 1, and the controller is supplied without optional technology functions.
