The RAC 3.5-200-460-APD-Z1-220 Indramat main spindle drive is designed according to industry standards with all the possible interfacing bus for easier parameter setting. Electrically, the unit has a feedback and CNC connection, power connections, and controller specific connections. These connection points make it possible to use a few cable types, the ones that are standard in the industry.

The CNC, power, and feedback connections all use the same plug and additionally have the same terminal assignment. The RAC 3.5-200-460-APD-Z1-220 has all the connections needed for installing the unit in the cabinet and interfacing it with other control circuitries. That makes the installation process easier and faster as there is nothing unique needed. Both the feedback and CNC connections are also the same. They require cables that can be used by any other main spindle drive controller.

The installation of this particular unit requires a power supply from a three-phase main supply a voltage of between 380 and 460V. Whether you are connected to a 50Hz grid or 60Hz grid does not matter as the drive controller can operate with both frequencies. However, to realize a better performance form the unit, you need to maintain the ambient temperature between 5-45^oC, altitude of not more than 1000m, and humidity class F. Both drive-related and application related software work in unison to produce the desired outcome. The drive-related program defines the controller’s characteristics while application elated software works with the set parameters to achieve the specific requirements of the plant. The parameter values can be set using the keypad on the unit or through a PC that is connected serially to the unit.
