Indramat has been in the business of manufacturing main spindle drive controllers. With its RAC 2 Main Spindle Drive Controller, it opens the door to advanced technology being applied in regular drive controller operations.

The RAC 2.2-150-460-D00-W1 has a design that is under the protection class of IP10 while the inside of the control cabinet has a protection classification of IP 54 and its fan unit under IP 24 protection class. Cooling methods such as inside the controller cabinet and outside are integrated into the design of the RAC 2.2-150-460-D00-W1. For any obstacles in implementing the cooling method with air outside the cabinet, INDRAMAT can provide for a hose cooling upon the user’s request.  There are three phases of supply networks for the direct mains connection of the RAC 2.2-150-460-D00-W1. These three phases can either be 3* 400 volts, 50 Hz, +/- 15%, or 3* 460 volts, 60 Hz, +/- 10%. For the speed set-point interface, the RAC 2.2-150-460-D00-W1 has an analogue speed set-point, digital speed set-point, and SERCOS interface.

It is important to reiterate that when the RAC 2 controller is operated, it must be within an ambient temperature of up to 45 degrees C, thus the importance of cooling devices that may be adjusted with little to no structural change. The power, controller-specific, feedback, and CNC connections of Indramat’s main spindle drives all have standard designs. Structural changes are not necessary upon delivery of the controller unless the cooling method is not applicable to the machine. With Indramat, any exchange of defective controllers is possible since the drive can be easily adapted by plugging it into a new replacement controller in lieu of the defective controller, making the process fast and simple.
