The RAC2.1-200-380-AP0-W1 belongs to the RAC Spindle Drive Controllers series manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. This electronic drive regulates main spindle motors in CNC machining centers and similar automation equipment. By converting the plant’s three-phase supply into controlled output current, it closes the speed loop between the numerical controller and the motor, allowing precise acceleration, deceleration, and stable holding speed during metal-cutting and forming processes. That closed-loop behavior helps maintain commanded spindle speed during load changes caused by tool engagement and material variation.
The controller is wired to a plant supply of 3 x AC 400 V and can deliver up to 300 A of output current to the spindle windings. It accepts line frequencies in the 50–60 Hz range, so it can be installed in facilities that follow common industrial power standards. A built-in fan moves air across the heat sinks and power semiconductors to keep internal temperatures within safe limits during long machining cycles. Speed reference is provided by an analog (±10 V) signal, which the controller converts into the current command used for spindle torque and speed control. The drive has no additional bleeder resistor, so returned energy must be handled by the connected power supply or by the mechanical system during deceleration.
Position feedback is interpolated internally down to 1/4,000,000 rev, supporting rigid tapping and contouring routines that depend on very fine speed and position tracking.
