Product Description:
The Bosch Rexroth Indramat RAC 3.5-200-460-LP0-W1-220 is an AC main spindle drive controller in the RAC Spindle Drive Controllers series. It sits between the three-phase plant supply and a high-speed motor, converting incoming power into a regulated DC bus and a pulse-width-modulated output stage. By interpreting numeric commands from the machine control, the device adjusts spindle speed and maintains torque during cutting, drilling, and grinding operations in automated machine tools and flexible manufacturing cells. Because it handles both power switching and feedback evaluation, it reduces the need for discrete control relays and contactors, which helps simplify cabinet layouts.
To energize the power section, the controller accepts 3 × AC 400 V / 460 V and supplies a continuous output of 200 A to the spindle windings. A separate control stage is fed by AC 230 V / 50–60 Hz, which helps isolate the logic circuits from line disturbances. Thermal management relies on an internal blower, so airflow is produced inside the housing and no external ductwork is required. Velocity references arrive over the SERCOS interface, and operating data are exchanged through the X4 optical waveguides, which help maintain signal integrity in electrically noisy environments.
Position accuracy is supported by a high-resolution INDRAMAT encoder. The drive also includes an additional encoder input for spindle feedback, allowing a second feedback channel for position monitoring at high spindle speeds. During rapid deceleration, energy is returned to the link voltage, and the unit is supplied without an additional bleeder, so external braking resistors are not required within the stated load range. The unit is Series 3 and Version 5, matching this controller revision for the listed electrical and feedback features.
