Product Description:
The Bosch Rexroth Indramat RAC 3.5-200-460-AP0-W1-220 is an AC main spindle drive controller in the RAC Spindle Drive Controllers series. It conditions three-phase mains power and delivers controlled current to machine-tool spindles so that programmed speed and torque are maintained through cutting loads. Used in automated machining centers, the unit links the numerical control to the motor side and translates velocity setpoints into real-time power modulation. The controller is hardware revision 3 and uses the mechanical footprint found in earlier Indramat rack drives, which helps it fit established cabinet layouts.
The power stage is rated for a continuous output of 200 A, enabling operation of large, high-inertia spindle motors without derating. It accepts a nominal supply of 3 x AC 400 V / 3 x AC 460 V at 50 Hz, with a ±15% tolerance that covers common utility variations. Logic and gate drivers are fed separately from AC 230 V / 50–60 Hz control power, which helps isolate sensitive electronics from line disturbances. Thermal management is handled by an internal blower that pushes cabinet air through the heat sink, so no external ducting is required. Field wiring for command and feedback lands on the X4 9-pole terminal strip, which provides a fixed connection point for shield termination and diagnostic access.
Velocity reference arrives as an analog (+/- 10 V) signal, allowing direct connection to conventional CNC analog outputs. Rotor position is resolved by a high-resolution Indramat encoder, and the controller also provides an additional encoder input for spindle feedback when secondary measurement is needed for backlash compensation. The analog command format suits control platforms that output a standard bipolar speed reference. The unit is supplied without an additional bleeder, so regenerative energy must be absorbed by the internal circuitry or by an external braking resistor sized for the application. A secondary measurement channel can improve feedback at the spindle when drive-train compliance or backlash must be monitored.
